A great weekend at One Hotel @ Santubong Resort

It was a great weekend.. It has been quite sometime i didnt have a great time with my own family.. Since i got a free stay voucher from Santubong Resort, so this is a great time for me to have a break.. Release all my stress by watching the sun setting down on the west side.. I took some shots with my son(that is so hyperactive) during the sunset.. I was a beautiful sunset but it wasnt the best of it.... i do miss sunset alot coz it reminds me of all the sweet memories..

Fuhh..Its been a while i did not update my blog due to my workload that is increasing day by day.. Huh..what a life.. My visitor is decreasing every month.. Sorry bout that folks.. I got family to feed & cant committ myself blogging everyday..hehehehehe.. :P

Recently or can i say it few weeks ago(wink*), went to BCCK to shot a concert performed by some local artist a.k.a "Iban singer".. It was great & i had nvr enjoyed myself in such a concert.. Great sound system, great lighting & great performers.. I really like the sound system, & i hope Kuching will have a great concert from a great artist such as Daughtry maybe..hahahaha.. In our dream perhaps.. But i do suggest that BCCK is a great place to held a concert...

Another boring evening.... suddenly i saw my boy sitting at the gate watching some kids playing around.. Maybe in his mind he wanted to join them but, would "my daddy allow me to play with them".. I rush into then house to take my cam and i shouldnt miss this moment.. Really like the expression of his face.. so here are the shots.. Edited with Photoshop.. few layers to create the effect.. This event happen 2 weeks ago.. Organize by KFK(kelab fotografi kenyalang) in conjunction for their 2nd AGM(annual general meeting).. Actually this is a photoshot sompetition & more than 40 photographers took part in this event.. Shoting time is at noon & all of us having a hard time to get the right exposure..shadows damn harsh..Arghhhhh... it is really challenging for all of us.. So the only way, hehehehe... i got my own strategy..Not a dirty strategy, but a good one enough for me to get the right shot at the right time...

So here are the shots.. D700 with 80-200mm f/2.8(soon i will lose this baby) and 28-70mm f/2.8...

Last month, me & few fella photographers had a great outing @ Mount Serapi.. The expedition took us almost half a day... We really had a great fun eventhough it is very tiring.. At least we got to know sumthin & experience sumthin new..

Actually, our plan is to go to the mountain peak.., but we all diverted to the waterfall..ehehehee... The route to the peak so steppe so we all thought that the route to the waterfall should be much easier..Eventually, it was the most challenging route actually.. but we never felt regret coz we all had an enjoyable expedition.. the scenery was great till i feel want to ga back there again..But this time, we will go to the mountain peak...

Strobist @ CLS is a technique where we trigger the flash off camera.. Normally, nikon's famous with this technique.. My set up for this session is...2 speedlite has been use.. 1 unit attached to the softbox & be the main light source... The other unit as a kicker with green gel from behind the model to give some effect to separate the model from the background. If some of u dont really understand with what i say, its ok.. Jus look at my pics, then u will understand.. Futhermore, im not that good in explaining anything... muahahahaha.... Thats why i cant be a teacher. Hehehehehehe....

The model that work with me for this CLS session is good in posing and i've been shoting her for several times before this. Well, some of u might have seen her in my previous post.. For this pics, i've done some editing to it. Much more different from my previous post coz i want to try sumthin new here.. I dont know if some of u would like it or not.. Camp Permai Outing (part 1) Nature Shots

Last weekend, me & my gang(Elite Team) when for outing at Camp Permai a.k.a Permai Rainforest Resort.. An overnite stay at the cabin n we really enjoy it.. The cabin quite a distance from the main entrance & the cafeteria... took us about 15 minutes to reach to those places... During this outing, we had alot of activities.. Landscape shoting, dolphin sighting, monkeys sighting, boat ride, sunset shoting at the beach & sunrise @ Buntal.... And not forgetting, model shoting too... That one, i will post it later.. For now, i post up what we did on the 1st day...

Wow... its has been 2 months i did not update my blog.. fuhhh... what is wrong with me?? Busy?? No time?? No interest to update my blog?? Hmmm.... KFK Outing at SCV( Sarawak Cultural Village)

On the 10th May, KFK(Kelab Fotografi Kenyalang) went to Sarawak Cultural Village( never been there eventhough im a Sarawakian) for an outing with all the members & forumers.. It was a great outing & all of us having a good time... The main reason for this outing is to shot the finalist for the Miss Fair & Lovely(hehehehe.. this is the main point why i go there).. More than 50 photographers were invited from all over Sarawak.. Can u guys imagine how pack we are??( feels like in a can of SARDINE SMILING FISH...hahahaha).. Futhermore the weather damn hot..Fuhh.. really make me sweat under my armpitt( dont worry, it wont stink mah) ..muahahahaha......

Btw, we all really have fun with the naughty attitude from all of us(especially Pak Ngah, Hardy, Sharkawi) :-p .... Hope we can shot again next year for the same event.... And dont forget Ted Adnan.. He also joined us for the event after he conducted a workshop here in Kuching.. If u guys dont know who he is, he's the master of lighting & really well known in K.L( fuyoooooooo....... and dont forget whole of west Malaysia too) U guys can visit his blog HERE... Last weekend on the 11th April 2009, KFK(kelab fotografi kenyalang) organize a trip to Hilton Batang Ai Resort.. It was a great trip and my 1st time to Batang Ai.. We had an enjoyable time there n that 2 days one nite trip is not enough at all.. For nature lover, this place will be a great place to visit and i'm sure that u will never regret.. Food is great here and the price is damn good too..hehehehehe... so here are my shot and more to come later..

This is my another attempt to do indoor shot. I've seen this kind of shot from a famous photographer in Malaysia.. I really adore it and wanted to give myself a try. I've email him and ask him how to create the setup for this shot, and he jus reply me and say that it is hard to explain. Need to join his workshop to learn more..Hmmmmm...nowadays everything needs money. So i google to search the setup n i give it a try.. And here are my shots...

Just bought this month issue of DCM(digital camera magazine). I really like the article bout how to create a creative indoor shot. So got nothing to do, i try to follow the set up and try to make my own shot. Fuhhh... it took me almost 200 shot and i can get few best among the best shot. Its not easy and need to be really patience. But make sure u wont wet your cam while doing this... Im using my Tamron 90mm f/2.8 macro lens to get this close up shot...Nothing much has been done, just cropping n do some levels with Photoshop CS3...

I've received an email from my old friend. After i read his email, i really dont understand why our local newspaper would do that. Cheating all their readers with their FAKE statement or they have been cheated by someone who giving them the fake story... Are they trying to get a cheap publicity just to make sure that their newspaper would be sold out and be the most hottest newspaper in town?? Damn it, im one of the victim that really believe with what they have written.. Its all fake..damn sh** FAKE!!.. In my opinion, this statement could create chaos in that town. So anyone from that town, dont panic.. It's jus a FAKE and CHEAP story from this newspaper... The writter should check around before publish up this fairy tale..

Before that, i would like to link u guys to this YOUTUBE site.. watch the video up to the 13th second and pause it. Enlarge your screen and take the shot with your phone cam. From there, u can get the same result as what the writter/someone else claimed... So dont be fool with this cheap fairytale...

Thaipusam Celebration in Kuching

This is the 1st time i've shot Thaipusam celebration. It's a great celebration for the Hindus and me as well.. Full with colours n culture..

Thaipusam is a Hindu festival celebrated mostly by the Tamil community on the full moon in the Tamil month(Thai month). Pusam refers to a star that is at its highest point during the festival in that month. The festival commemorates both the birthday of Lord Murugan, the youngest son of Shiva and Parvati, and the occasion when Parvati gave Murugan a vel (lance) so he could vanquish the evil demon called Soorapadman..

During this festival,devotees will carry the Kavadi. The Kavadi consists of two semicircular pieces of wood or steel which are bent and attached to a cross structure that can be balanced on the shoulders of the devotee. It is often decorated with flowers, peacock fathers (the vehicle of God Murugan) among other things.In addition, some have a little spear through their tongue, or a spear through the cheeks. The spear pierced through his tongue or cheeks reminds him constantly of Lord Murugan. Can u imagined the pain?? For the Hindu's the greater the pain the more god-earned merit.

So here are the shots duting the celebration.. Hope next year it will be much more grand than this year and i really enjoy it alot....

Last Saturday 24th January, KFK(kelab fotografi kenyalang) organized a TT session to the all members n forumer. It was so fun coz after the meal/dinner, we got a chance to shot a model. Model@ chey-chey is so friendly n really easy to work with, Very cheerfull n happy going person. At the shoting session, the tutor want us to shot with 1 speedlight with umbrella on the side. A.K.A CLS(creative lighting system).. so mostly main for nikon user..hehehehe.. so here are my shot to share.. night shoting is fun...

I've just bought a new toy from Empress. This is a portable mini studio. FV Portable Mini Studio is the brand. Really good for product shot n it can be my mini white or dark room. Wow.. i really like it alot. I've try several shots and here are some of it.. On 3rd of January 2009, Louis Pang held a workshop here in Kuching.. Some of u might know who he is & im sure most of u dont know who is this guy.. He's the most prestigous wedding photographer & my idol too. He won few award from the WPPI( wedding & potrait photographers international) and he is the 1st Malaysian ever win the 1st place in that compettition... U can visit here to view some of the winning shots or his blog.. Im sure u guys out there will loves his shot.. WOW.. he's damn good man. Im looking forward for the next workshop conduct by him.. Today got no activity to be done.. waiting for my friends to call, but all of them seems to be busy with their own work.. Hmmm.. get so bored so i took my Tammy 90mm f2.8 to the backyard. Looking for bugs, and got few of them... busy looking at me im supposed.. Im sure they must be saying"what is that stupid guy doing looking at us"?? Ha.. actually they are stupid coz they cant pose!!!.. Btw, here r few shot(eventually all of them looks ugly) taken.. Hope can look for much more better looking bugs next time.. HDR (High Dynamic Range) Photos

High dynamic range (HDR) images enable photographers to record a greater range of tonal detail than a given camera could capture in a single photo. This opens up a whole new set of lighting possibilities which one might have previously avoided—for purely technical reasons. The new "merge to HDR" feature of Photoshop CS2(normally i use Photomatix lah..) allows the photographer to combine a series of bracketed exposures into a single image which encompasses the tonal detail of the entire series. There is no free lunch however; trying to broaden the tonal range will inevitably come at the expense of decreased contrast in some tones. Learning to use the merge to HDR feature in Photoshop CS2 or Photomatix can help you make the most of your dynamic range under tricky lighting—while still balancing this trade-off with contrast.

Here are some shot that i've taken and turn it into HDR. Sorry if my photos not that good. By the way, im still learning too.

This is one of my favourite lens that i can afford to get soon. Cost bout RM3.4K.. Hope by this month i can get one of this. Its has been my dream lens since i change my gear from CANON to NIKON. But the 70-200mm f2.8 VR is still the best among this range of lens.. N it is very costly to me. Cost around RM6k for a brand new set..Here r the specification bout this 80-200mm f2.8 lens. Jus a summary from KenRockwell:-

Name: Nikon calls this the Nikon ED AF Nikkor 80-200mm f/2.8 D
Optics: Sixteen elements in eleven groups. Three of them are of ED glass.
Diaphragm: 9-bladed diaphragm with nine conventional straight blades. They make a nice 9-sided polygon at all apertures, unlike the AF-S that simulates a circle at larger apertures.
Filters: Uses standard 77mm filters.
Close Focus: About 5.5 feet, which is pretty good. That's about a foot less close than the AF-S when I compared the two directly, and about the same as the 180/2.8AF.
Size: 3.4" (87mm) around by 7.4" (187mm) long.
Weight: 2 pounds, 14 oz (46 ounces total or 1,300g)
Case: It comes with a fairly useless case. Just put it away someplace for when you sell the lens.

On my 2nd day, i've plan to go for an island ride. Been to 4 island n i regret to go to 1 of the island. Its the Sulug island. No population,so quiet n lonely(akon)..hehehehe.. My advise to u guys, dont choose the package to Sulug island... Jus a waste of money...... u will regret!
